Air Quality Alerts

The WestSide AirSense project has been to bring real-time air quality data to west side neighborhoods in Salt Lake County. You can now get free email alerts notifying you when fine particle pollution is high in your specific area.

Alerts are available for:

• Poplar Grove (84104)

• Glendale (84104)

• Westpointe (84116)

• Rose Park (84116)

• Fairpark (84116)

• Beck Street (84116)

• Magna (84044)

• West Valley (84128 & 84120)

How it works: You’ll receive an alert—no more than twice a day—when pollution levels exceed the early warning threshold of 9 µg/m³ (micrograms per cubic meter). This level means the air quality is starting to become unhealthy, especially for sensitive groups.

Art @ The Gardens

Mark your calendars for Art @ The Gardens! It will take place this year on Saturday, April 25th.

Expanding Housing Options Project

Expanding Housing Options is a change to zoning rules that would give property owners in lower-density neighborhoods more options for how they use their property. The changes would make it possible to build more types of housing, like smaller homes and townhomes, while still preserving the character and unique qualities of each neighborhood.

Salt Lake Health and Wellness Fair

Special Olympics Utah is excited to host our 2nd Annual Health & Wellness Fair* on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Glendale Middle School. This safe, welcoming, family-friendly event supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families by removing barriers to preventive care and community resources.

The event will offer free health screenings and services, including Primary Care, Vision, Dental, Physical Therapy, Podiatry, Health Promotion, and Hearing. Free prescription glasses, fluoride treatments, ear cleanings, and more will also be provided. On-site language translators will be available to help ensure families can fully access services and information.

We expect more than 70 vendors and community partners from across Salt Lake City who specialize in serving the IDD community. Each will be available to share resources, provide incentives, and offer referrals as needed. To ensure the day is both supportive and fun, we’ll also provide a free lunch for all attendees, along with healthy snacks, giveaways, and surprises!

Westside Lobby Day

Residents on Salt Lake City’s Westside are confronted with poor air quality, heat islands, high levels of radon exposure, and toxic dust storms from the drying Great Salt Lake. Utah lawmakers must hear from Westside residents to address these harms. 

Join HEAL Utah and the Westside Coalition at the Capitol to receive training on lobbying policymakers, schedule times to speak with your lawmakers, and gain insights on Westside lobbying priorities!

TreeUtah Opportunity

TreeUtah team is already planning for our 2026 spring planting season. TreeUtah works with schools, from kindergarten to college-age nature lovers, to increase the number of thriving green spaces around us.

Blocked Train Crossing?

Construction at national railroad crossings must adhere to the standards of the Federal Railroad Administration. The FRA uses the data collected from their official Crossing Incident Reporter to track location and impacts of blocked crossings. While not directly used in FRA budgetary requests or regulatory proposals, reporting any train crossing blockage you experience will help the FRA realize the impact of train blockages on our community.
