Last week a young boy was taken to the hospital after being seriously injured while attempting to cross 1700 S to the Glendale Regional Park.

Residents of Glendale have been asking for street safety improvements at this location for a long time.

What you can do:

• If you want to get word to the City that there is a Safety Concern along this road, you can fill out a mySLC form here expressing exactly what your concerns are.

• You can register here to comment at a City Council Meeting either in-person or via Zoom. The next public meeting is March 24th at 7:00 PM in the City & County building. 

If enough residents express concern with the City it will draw attention to the issue, improving the odds of having the City prioritize this location for safety improvements.

Our SLCPD community liaison, Detective Oliver, has asked that Glendale residents take this brief survey. This is your opportunity to share what matters most to you about public safety and police services in our community. Your feedback directly shapes the department’s strategy.

Expanding Housing Options

The Salt Lake City Planning Division is reviewing a proposal called Expanding Housing Options. The proposal would change zoning rules to give property owners in lower-density neighborhoods more options for how they use their property. The changes would make it possible to build more types of housing, like smaller homes and townhomes, while still preserving the character, scale, and unique qualities of each neighborhood.

Salt Lake Health and Wellness Fair

Special Olympics Utah is excited to host our 2nd Annual Health & Wellness Fair* on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Glendale Middle School. This safe, welcoming, family-friendly event supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families by removing barriers to preventive care and community resources.

The event will offer free health screenings and services, including Primary Care, Vision, Dental, Physical Therapy, Podiatry, Health Promotion, and Hearing. Free prescription glasses, fluoride treatments, ear cleanings, and more will also be provided. On-site language translators will be available to help ensure families can fully access services and information.

We expect more than 70 vendors and community partners from across Salt Lake City who specialize in serving the IDD community. Each will be available to share resources, provide incentives, and offer referrals as needed. To ensure the day is both supportive and fun, we’ll also provide a free lunch for all attendees, along with healthy snacks, giveaways, and surprises!
